How Much Does a Website Cost in 2026? A Kent Pricing Guide

Ask five web designers what a website costs and you will get five different answers, all of them vague.
That is not a coincidence. The honest answer is that price depends on a handful of things, and most of them are decisions you get to make. This guide walks through those decisions the way we walk a Kent business owner through them before we quote. We are minority-owned and a BBB Accredited Business, founded by a PMP-certified professional. We quote a fixed price after we look at what you have.

The Six Things That Set the Price
1. How many pages. A five-page site for a service business is a different job than a thirty-page site with a page for every town you serve. Page count is the single biggest lever you control.
2. Whether you sell online. Ecommerce website design means products, a cart, checkout, tax rules and shipping. That is development work, not design work, and it costs accordingly. A Shopify build is a different path again.
3. Who writes the words and takes the photos. If your copy and images are ready, we move straight to building. If we write the pages and arrange photography, that is scope on top of the design.
4. Custom design or template. A layout built around your business costs more than dropping your logo into something off the shelf. It also tends to convert better, because the page follows how your customers actually buy.
5. What has to connect. Booking systems, payment processors, a CRM, an email platform. Each connection is real work and each one can break, so each one needs testing.
6. What happens after launch. Hosting, updates, backups and security are ongoing. So is search work. These are not one-time costs and any quote that hides them is not a quote.
Which of those six is quietly inflating the quote you already have?
Nine times out of ten it is number three. Owners assume content is included, the designer assumed the client would supply it, and the project stalls for two months while nobody writes the About page.
One-Time Cost Versus Monthly Cost
Two numbers matter, and people usually only ask about the first.
The build is one-time. Design, development, content setup, testing, launch.
The running cost is monthly or yearly. Domain, hosting, upkeep, security, and any marketing you add. Website hosting and maintenance are the pieces people forget until something breaks on a Saturday.
We separate those two lines on every quote. You should be able to see what you pay once and what you pay every month, before you sign anything.
Our Published Marketing Prices
We publish what we can, because you should not have to sit through a sales call to hear a number.
Social media management runs on three set tiers:
- Basic, 195 dollars a month. Two posts per week, one account across multiple platforms, content creation, project management, customer success strategy, and the tools.
- Standard, 295 dollars a month. Three posts per week.
- Premium, 495 dollars a month. Five posts per week.
Website builds are quoted rather than listed, because a bakery needing five pages and a contractor needing thirty are not the same job. What we will not do is quote a range and then land at the top of it.
Where Cheap Websites Get Expensive
A 500-dollar site is not a bargain if it costs you customers.
The usual failures look like this. The site is slow on a phone, so half your visitors leave before it loads. The phone number sits inside an image, so nobody can tap it. There are no separate pages for the services you actually sell, so you never rank for any of them. Accessibility was skipped, which narrows who can use the site and raises your legal exposure. See how we handle web accessibility instead.
Then there is the version people call us about most. The designer disappears. Nobody has the login, the domain sits under someone else's email, and the whole thing has to be rebuilt from a screenshot.
What is a website worth if you cannot get into it?
Ask who owns the domain, who owns the hosting account, and what happens if you leave. If the answer is not "you", the price is not the real price.
What We Include in a Build
So you can compare like with like, here is what our quotes cover.
- A layout built for phones first, tested on real devices
- Accessibility work built in from the start, not retrofitted
- Search structure, page speed and clean URLs, so the site has a chance from day one
- A redirect map from your old pages, so a redesign does not throw away traffic you already earn
- Editing tools you can use without code, plus training before launch
- The domain, hosting and content in your name
We start every project by reviewing the site you have and the Google Business Profile attached to it. That order saves money more often than it costs it. Plenty of businesses are about to pay for a rebuild when the real problem was a listing in the wrong category or four pages competing for the same search.
Timelines, and What Makes Them Slip
Most small business builds run four to eight weeks. Ecommerce runs longer.
The design is rarely the delay. Waiting on photos, copy and approvals is. When the content is ready and the deadline is real, we can move a great deal faster than that.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much should a small business website cost in Kent, WA?
There is no single number, and any designer who gives you one before seeing your business is guessing. The honest answer is that it comes down to page count, whether you sell online, and who produces the content. We quote a fixed price after a short review, not a range that creeps upward.
Is a monthly payment better than paying once?
It depends on cash flow. A monthly plan spreads the build and folds in hosting and upkeep, which suits a new business. Paying once is usually cheaper over three years. Ask what happens to the site if you stop paying, because on some plans you lose it.
Do I need to pay for SEO too?
Not on day one, but the site should be built so it can rank. If you want to compete for searches in Kent and the towns nearby, local SEO is ongoing work rather than a launch task. We keep it as a separate line so you can start it when you are ready.
Can I just use a website builder myself?
You can, and for some businesses that is the right call. Where owners get stuck is the parts that are invisible: page structure, speed, accessibility, and pages aimed at what people actually search. If the site is your main way of getting customers, it is worth building properly.
What if I already have a site and just need it improved?
That is often the cheaper path. A
website redesign
keeps the pages that already earn traffic and fixes what does not work, and it usually costs less than starting over.
