HOW WE GOT STARTED
I, Jeff Thungc, am a first-generation refugee from the aftermath of the U.S. CIA Secret War in Laos. My family was fortunate to be sponsored by a local church, and it was a compassionate woman from that congregation who inspired me to pursue a career in social services. For a decade, I dedicated myself to working with low-income families and at-risk youth, particularly juvenile offenders, helping them secure jobs and build meaningful careers. Recognizing the immense challenge of employment for this population, my wife and I launched a series of food businesses to create job opportunities for these young individuals.
By the mid-2000s, as technology and digital marketing rapidly evolved, I realized the power of online visibility and branding in business growth. I initially purchased a website to promote my food ventures, but the company I hired struggled to bring my marketing vision to life. I soon discovered that other small business owners faced similar challenges. Determined to bridge this gap, I went back to school to master digital marketing, SEO, and web development while juggling full-time work as a social worker and running my restaurant.
Despite my education, breaking into the industry was tough without hands-on experience. To build my expertise, I took a position managing digital media, website and app development, and digital learning for a local school district. When the pandemic hit, I witnessed an urgent demand for digital solutions among small businesses. Consumers had shifted to virtual spaces, yet many business owners lacked the tools to engage with their audience online. Seeing this as an opportunity to make a real impact, I left the school district in May 2020 to run my digital marketing agency full-time. Since then, my team and I have been passionate about helping small businesses not only survive but thrive in the digital landscape.
